When we first walked in, I went up to the counter and ordered my food. I ordered a cheese quesadilla that was $2.75 and my mom ordered a 3 taco basket with Mahi Mahi that was $7.50. Dos Coyotes has beautiful southwestern decorations and a good, big salsa bar. They have good salsa. My favorite was the mild green tomatillo salsa. It was not too hot, because it was mild, and it was a little bit sweet. The chips were really crunchy and fresh. When our food came, I tried my cheese quesadilla. It was very cheesy and the tortilla tasted a little bit crispy but not crispy like chips, kind of soft crispy. I loved it! It came with fresh fruit and sour cream and lettuce on the side. I’m not a big fan of sour cream but my mom is. At the end, while were wrapping it up, I tried some salsa on the edge of my quesadilla. It was not bad! It tasted kinda chewy with the salsa. Near the salsa bar, there is a big thing of different types of beverages like orange soda, lemonade, coke, things like that. Kids can get a reusable plastic cup that has a straw that changes color and get refills on their drinks. I recommend this restaurant because of the beautiful decorations (its fun to count how many coyotes you can see) and the great food and the salsa bar.

California Pizza Kitchen is in Market Square near Arden Fair Mall. On the menu they have lots of different pizzas, salads, soups and pastas. For my drink I ordered a kiwi twist. Kiwi twist is kind of a sprite-kiwi-ish drink. It’s not too sweet and it feels really refreshing. I think it is Sprite with kiwi juice in it. It has a great kiwi flavor. The waiter brought bread while we waited for our food. I put butter and parmesan cheese on it. The bread was really soft. When the food came, the first thing I tried was some of my dad’s Singapore Shrimp Rolls. They were a little crunchy because of the carrots and bean sprouts and the noodles had a great flavor. I sort of liked them but not too much because of the crunchy. Then I tried some of my mom’s crab cakes. They came with angel hair pasta and grilled asparagus. The angel hair pasta had a really strong lemony flavor to it. It was too lemony to me but my mom loved it! Next I tried the crab cakes. The crab cakes needed to be a little more firm. They tasted a little moist to me but they weren’t bad. They had a crispy breading that I liked. Last but not least, I tried the cheesy cheese pizza. It had a really cheesy flavor to it and it was kind of a thin crust. I took the cheese off and ate the cheese and then after I ate the cheese, I ate the crust. The crust was really sweet. It kinda tasted like they put some honey in it. The crust also had a little bit of a nutty flavor and the tomato sauce was really good. My parents also ordered Tortilla Soup which I did not try but they loved. For dessert, we had tiramisu. It was really creamy and milky. And on the bottom I could taste a lot of coffee. I didn’t like the texture of the lady fingers. It was kind of soggy and spongy on my tongue. For dessert, my brother got a kids brownie. The kids brownie is bigger than you might expect. It has whipped cream and a cherry on top. My brother always gives me the cherry because he doesn’t like cherries. The brownie was really chocolaty and the whipped cream was really creamy and soft. My mom loves whipped cream. The CPK kids menu costs $5.49. CPK has delicious food and desserts and refreshing beverages. It is a great place for children and adults to go to.

Café Bernardo is in midtown on Capitol Ave. I knew we were going to meet a Fox 40 camera man and news anchor, Natalie Bomke there so I was excited. On the menu, they have homemade oatmeal made with bananas, brown sugar and toasted pecans which is $4 and Malted Belgian Waffle with toasted pecan butter and pure maple syrup for $6.25. I went to the counter and ordered Amaretto French Toast for myself and Buttermilk Pancakes for my brother. My mom ordered a Bernardo Burrito and my dad ordered Eggs Bernardo. The waiter was very nice and they are very kid-friendly. The French toast was sweet, soft, really big and buttery. There were delicious, crunchy almonds on top that gave the French toast a crunchy texture. The syrup was good. The butter was buttery and flavorful. I loved it. The buttermilk pancakes were soft and sweet, not syrup sweet but buttermilk sweet. I loved the pancakes. They were pretty much my favorite. I also tried some of my mom’s breakfast potatoes that came with her burrito. They had a nice herby, spice flavor to them and they were really soft and good. They were delicious. I met the head chef and she asked me how my meal was. I said it was great and I had a great time. I gave her one of my business cards and she gave me one of hers. The head chef is very nice. My brother and I took a picture with her. It was really fun. They also have a children’s menu for people age 10 and under for $4 for breakfast and $6 for lunch or dinner. Their lunch and dinner menu looks good too. I would like to try the quesadilla or cheese pizza. My mom would like to try the grilled polenta triangles or the thai noodle salad. Maybe we’ll go for lunch or dinner next time!

When we arrived at the California State fair, my mom said, “How about we go get some food?” So we had a funnel cake which was $5.50. A funnel cake is a type of cake but not like birthday cake with frosting and stuff. It’s kind of like a donut with powdered sugar on it. It’s about the size of a small dinner plate. They had different kinds like chocolate chip and some with strawberries and whipped cream. We just got regular powdered sugar. I thought it was really chewy, powdered sugary and sweet. My mom said it could have been warmer. It was crispy and soft at the same time. I liked it a little bit. Next we got lemonade. It was sweet. It had a lemon seed and half of a lemon in the cup. It was a little tart but mostly sweet. I loved it. It was really cold and refreshing. What’s special about it is that you can watch them make it right in front of you. They got 4 lemon halves (2 lemons cut in half) then they squeeze them into a large cup. Then they poured 2 tablespoons of sugar. Then they filled the cup with half water and half ice and they shook it. Enjoy! There was so much food around, it was really hard to decide what to try. We finally decided to try the deep fried s’mores from Chicken Charlie’s. They have deep fried everything! The deep fried s’more was really crunchy and very chocolaty. It was also really sweet because of the chocolate and I could kind of taste the marshmallow. It looks like it won’t taste very good but it tastes delicious. Deep fried s’mores may sound gross but it was good. And that’s the thing about trying new foods. You may look at it and hear the name and say “No, I’m not eating that!” but wait until you try it. Then I had a snow cone right before we left. It was in a pretty blue cup. The cup’s top was shaped like a flower. The snow cone had good shredded ice. There were different flavors like blue raspberry and lime, but we got rainbow. It was really flavorful and sweet. There are a lot of food choices at the fair. If you see something like deep fried s’mores or deep fried Oreos, before you say, “No, thank you”, why don’t you try it?

Burr’s Fountain is on Folsom Blvd East Sacramento. When I walked in, it smelled really good. It’s sort of like a sandwich/ice cream shop. They have things like tuna, cheese, and vegetarian sandwiches and lots of flavors of ice cream. I had PB (PB means peanut butter) on white. My brother got grilled cheese on wheat. My mom got egg salad on sourdough with a garden salad. The sandwiches come with potato chips and pickles. The peanut butter in the peanut butter sandwich was kind of sticky and the bread was nice and soft. I had to drink some water to get the peanut butter off my tongue. I liked it but next time I’ll maybe get grilled cheese on wheat bread like my brother did. I tried some of my brother’s and it was a little crunchy from the grilled wheat bread and tasted very cheesy from the melted cheese. I loved it. The people who work there are very nice. Mr. Burr is usually there too. He is the owner of the restaurant. You can get a sundae for $3.95-$5.50. Sandwiches cost about $2.75-$6.45. For dessert, my brother got a vanilla sundae with whipped cream and hot fudge. I got a mocha chip milk shake. My mom got cookies and cream on a sugar cone. I tried some of my mom’s cookies and cream on a cone. It was good. I liked how it was creamy and the cookies inside it were chocolaty and good. Then I tried my milkshake. It tasted really mocha-y and coffee-y. The shake was not too thick, not too thin, just perfect. I liked the chocolate chips because they are nice big pieces of chocolate. I think my brother liked his sundae. What’s special about Burr’s is that there are really, really nice people there and the owner, Mr. Burr, is there most of the time. You always see friendly people from the neighborhood there. Burr’s is a really great place to go to for lunch.

The restaurant has a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe. There was also nice music playing. It’s a kid-friendly, fancy-ish restaurant but we could go in our shorts from the beach. My mom ordered a salad. I kinda liked the goat cheese on her salad but it was very strong tasting. The candied walnuts weren’t bad. They tasted pretty cinnamon-y. The cinnamon flavor was strong and a little spicy. The apple was nice and juicy but it tasted like balsamic vinegar because of the salad dressing. The crab cakes were crunchy on top but very soft in the middle. They were not too crabby, not too breaded, just right. I loved the crab inside. It was nice and fresh. Crab cakes are something that I really enjoy trying at different restaurants. These were the best I’ve tried so far. The rolls they brought were delicious. The outside was nice and smooth and the inside was very soft and warm. The butter was a little good on the roll. My brother ordered a grilled cheesy bun and fries from the kid menu. I tried the fries and they were good. The pasta from the kid menu was very soft but I thought it needed a lot more flavor. I couldn’t taste much flavor. It just had butter and a side of parmesan cheese. I tried adding salt but that didn’t really help. For dessert, we ordered Hula Pie. My brother ordered ice cream with chocolate sauce. I ordered cheesecake with raspberries and raspberry sauce. The huge slice of Hula Pie was made out of macadamia nut ice cream so it was freezing cold but delicious. It had chocolate and nuts on top with whipped cream and Oreo crust. The nuts on top made it a little crunchy and gave it a good texture. My brother’s vanilla ice cream had delicious hot fudge that turned into cold fudge on the ice cream. The chocolate had a nice gooey texture in my mouth. It tasted terrific. My brother liked it too. Last but not least, the cheesecake. The cheesecake had a little bit of a tangy quality probably because of the raspberry sauce. There were fresh raspberries on top that had a bit of a tangy taste with a little bit of sweet mixed in. They were pretty good. The cheesecake was rich, a little creamy with a good crust. I think you should go to this restaurant because it is kid- friendly, has a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe, nice music and the crab cakes are delicious!

I know what you’re thinking; IKEA isn’t much of a restaurant. Just a store. But they actually have pretty good food. There is a cafeteria on the 2nd floor. We choose french fries, mac & cheese, and wheat rolls for lunch. The french fries were crunchy, salty and had a sweetish flavor. I loved them and they tasted perfect with ketchup. The mac and cheese was creamy, rich, gooey, and cheesy with soft macaroni noodles. I really liked the mac and cheese. My mom loved it too. The wheat rolls were soft, fresh and had a sweet, nutty flavor. For dessert, we had Chocolate Overload Cake and Swedish Almond Cake. The Chocolate Overload cake had chocolate mousse and devil’s food cake layers. It tasted very rich. I loved it. I ate the whole thing! The Swedish Almond Cake was gluten free which is good for people who have celiac disease or can’t have gluten. It was creamy and crunchy at the same time. It tasted a little sweet but not overly sweet. It had crunchy almonds on top and inside. I sort of liked it. IKEA cafeteria is a great place for your kids and yourself to eat if you are hungry while shopping.

Bubba Gump’s is on the pier in Santa Monica so it has a beautiful view of the beach. It is very kid-friendly. Inside there is stuff all over the walls like license plates and pictures. They have a fun kids menu that you can color on. Some of their choices were macaroni and cheese and pepperoni pizza, but you can get it without the pepperoni if you are a vegetarian. We also ordered garlic bread. It was kind of garlicky, not greasy but with garlicky flavor and it was really soft and buttery. It was nice and soft on the inside and the crust on the outside was a little crunchy. My brother and I loved it! Then our macaroni and cheese and pizza came in little paper boats. The mac & cheese wasn’t too bad. It tasted okay but I thought it needed a little more cheese and to be a little gooeyier. It came with jello but it didn’t taste very good and was a little watery. The cheese pizza was great. I love the cheese flavor and the pizza sauce. My brother also loved it. Both of our meals came with French fries. They weren’t bad. They were a little between soft and crunchy. My parents got a salad and clam chowder and Bourbon Mahi Mahi They thought the salad and chowder were not too bad. They both really liked the fish. They shared their croutons with my brother and I. I loved the croutons! They were soft and crunchy and had a great flavor from the salad dressing. I recommend this Bubba Gumps because they have terrific kids food and garlic bread and its kid-friendly.

Naples Ristorante in Downtown Disney
We sat outside under the beautiful nighttime sky and a table umbrella. A nice lady came and made us balloon animals (they can’t make Disney characters because its not a Disney restaurant). I choose a balloon mermaid and my brother chose a dragon. Our friends got a shark and a monkey on a tree. They have menus for kids with crayons and good choices for food. I ordered a delicious cheesy cheese pizza with tomato sauce. My brother got the same. The crust was soft and good. It was floury on the bottom. They had good bubbly root beer too. It was cold and fresh. My mom ordered ravioli and my dad ordered stuffed shells and they shared a salad. They both liked them. Our friends ordered pepperoni pizzas and salads that they liked. We had a really nice waiter and I liked sitting outside with my friends and family! We saw fireworks as we walked out. They were huge, colorful and exciting! I think people should go to this restaurant because the people who work there are kid-friendly and they have good food choices for children even though it’s kind of a fancy-ish restaurant.
Golden Horseshoe Review in Disneyland
When we walked in, I thought it pretty much looked like a cowboy saloon. I feel like a cowgirl in Frontierland. My dad went to the counter and ordered some fish & chips and mozzarella sticks for us. After the food came, there was a show that began. It was called Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. It was hysterically funny. They tell really funny jokes like: “Why do you never see an airplane land where Peter Pan lives? Because there is a big sign that says Never Never Land.” Get it? Never, never land! Sometimes when they are playing the fiddle, they’ll call someone up to help them out. It’s good if you get there early if there is a show so you can get a seat. The mozzarella sticks were really good and cheesy. They are breaded and fried. The cheese was good and tasted like mozzarella cheese—it was delicious. The breading wasn’t too soft, wasn’t too crunchy—it was just right. They were served with fries. I shared them with my brother. They were the smaller fries and they were tasty and warm. My parents liked the fish and chips. For dessert they have giant chocolate cake or ice cream. We choose mint chip ice cream this time. It was nice and creamy with crunchy chocolate chips. I recommend this restaurant because its fun and they have good food and you can see a show while you eat. Hint: There is a hidden Mickey in the middle vent in the front of the stage!
River Belle Terrace in Disneyland
We met some friends at River Belle Terrace for breakfast. My brother and I ordered Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes–blueberries for the eyes, a cherry nose and a slice of pineapple for the mouth. When I first took a bite, the texture wasn’t all that good but I liked the taste. Usually I like soft, fluffy pancakes and these were a little bit dry but they tasted okay. They syrup was sweet and good. My mom and dad ordered breakfast plates with potatoes and shared them with me. They had herbs and were really soft but not mushy. I liked them a lot. I would recommend it a little because the potatoes were good and the Mickey Mouse shape of the pancakes was really fun.
Boudins Bakery in California Adventure
Boudins Bakery tour was a lot of fun. Right when you walk in there is a really nice person who gives out samples of their delicious sourdough bread. There is a big screen TV where you learn about how they make sourdough bread. The history of sourdough bread goes all the way back to the California Gold Rush. When you exit the tour and go to your right, there is a restaurant where you can buy Mickey Mouse shaped loaf of sourdough bread, soup in a bread bowl and even a kids’ meal. My parents enjoyed the clam chowder and corn chowder. I tried some of the corn chowder. It was a little spicy but not bad. I recommend this restaurant because their sourdough bread is delicious and soft. You can buy a whole loaf of Mickey Mouse sourdough bread and carry it around with you throughout the park in case you get hungry. If you have children, I bet they will love that sourdough bread!
Mission Tortilla Factory in California Adventure
Right across from Boudins bakery is Mission Tortilla Factory. When you walk in there is a big screen TV in front of you. There are some quick facts and then you go right into the factory. You can see a big tortilla making machine that makes corn tortillas and flour tortillas. When you walk past the big machine, they give out samples of their warm tortillas. Their flour tortillas taste really yummy and soft. Their corn tortillas have a really corny flavor and texture. I like them. When I eat them, I roll them up like a burrito but with nothing inside it and then I eat it. Around the building is a Mexican restaurant. You can buy 3 of the flour tortillas for only $1. They have Mexican rice that tastes delicious. It has a Mexican spicy flavor to it. I recommend the Mission Tortilla Factory because it is kid-friendly and their flour and corn tortillas are delicious.
Pizza Port in Disneyland
Pizza Port is right next to the Space Mountain ride in Tomorrowland. It’s decorated a little like a space ship. It’s kinda like a cafeteria where you go up and get your own food on a tray. Some of the choices are cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, some yummy salads and this really tasty pasta that I loved. It was curly pasta with a delicious alfredo sauce. It comes with chicken but you can get it without. I thought it was 5 stars! It was terrific. My parents liked it too. We ate the whole thing. My brother, he just ate cheese pizza. It was a nice big slice and he liked it. I didn’t like the cheese all that much. My parents got a field greens salad with candied walnuts and balsamic dressing. I tried the walnuts and they were delicious, caramely, sticky and candy-like. The craisins were a little tasty too. Kids would like this restaurant it because it’s like a space ship. Parents will like it because it’s easy and the pasta and salads are great tasting. You get a lot of food and my parents said it’s not very expensive. It’s a nice relaxing place to go to if you if you need to find a place to eat in Tomorrowland.
Goofy’s Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel
Goofy’s Kitchen is a type of restaurant where you get up and get your own food. Kind of like a cafeteria and you can go back and get more. You pay 1 price, about $25-$40 per person. Sometimes, in the middle of a meal, some Disney characters might come up to your table, say hello, maybe write a not or autograph. You can also take a picture with them. Disney calls this Character Dining. At different times, they call up children to come dance and play with the characters, bang toy pots and pans and many things. For lunch I had some macaroni and cheese, bagels, watermelon. The watermelon was pretty good. The macaroni and cheese was delicious. The cheese was really gooey and cheesy and tasty. The bagels weren’t that bad but the cream cheese was really good. My brother had pancakes and Mickey waffles and cheese pizza. He seemed to like everything okay. My parents had eggs Benedict which they made for them without the ham. They loved it! They also had breakfast potatoes. I kinda liked them. They also have delicious desserts. The lemon bars were a little too tart for me. My mom loved them. The jello was not too bad. My brother had ice cream and M&Ms. He mostly just ate the M&Ms. I also had a chocolate croissant and a regular croissant. The chocolate croissant was chocolaty and good! I like chocolate croissants better than regular croissants. I also tried chocolate chip cookie pizza with M&Ms. My dad mostly ate it because he loved it. My favorite thing was the worms and dirt. Worms and dirt is chocolate pudding, crumbled up pieces of Oreo cookie and gummy worms mixed together. That’s why it’s called worms and dirt. The gummy worms were sweet and chewy. The pudding and cookies were really chocolaty and soft. I loved it! Goofy’s Kitchen is a great place for you and your children to go to!
Snacks in the parks
One of the snacks they have at stands in the park are churros. Churros are like a little dessert that they eat in Spain. They are really sugary-cinnamony. They are crunchy on the outside but soft in the middle. They’re a little messy but worth it. Another snack is delicious, sweet cotton candy. Its good because it really fresh and fluffy. The popcorn is delicious. Its buttery, salty and warm. These are yummy snacks that you can eat in the park.

First I need to explain that The Painted Turtle isn’t exactly a restaurant and not everyone can visit. It is a camp that is for kids who have certain chronic illnesses like Crohn’s, colitis, kidney disease, liver transplant, arthritis or diabetes.
The Painted Turtle has lots of fun activities like horses, ropes course, arts & crafts, woodshop and swimming. Kids can go for a week of fun and happiness.
Now let’s talk about the Dining Hall! There is fun, music, good smells and “Hoppers” which are counselors who hop to get your food after they sing a cheer. The cheer goes like this: “H-H-H-O-P, P-P-P-E-R, What’s that spell? HOPPERS!” The food was delicious! I liked some dishes more than others. There is always a vegetarian option at every meal.
Some of the snack foods that I liked were honey-nut Os for breakfast, string cheese, shredded cheese and carrots from the salad bar at lunch and dinner, tater tots with ketchup, hot chocolate, and sun (flower seed) butter and honey sandwiches.
From the kitchen, I enjoyed many things. One of the things I had for lunch was herbed potatoes. They had a nice, spicey-ish flavor and they were nice and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The spaghetti was a little good. The garlic bread was really garlicky and soft and delicious! I didn’t try any of the steamed vegetables or the meaty things.
Breakfast foods were really delicious. My favorite thing was the pancakes! They were fluffy and good. The French toast was really flavorful. I kinda liked the English muffins also. The miniature bagels were soft and delicious with cream cheese.
One of the desserts that they prepared was a tasty vanilla cake with vanilla frosting on it. I loved the frosting! Another was the caramel cake. The caramel didn’t really taste like caramel—it tasted like butterscotch. I loved it! There was also chocolate pudding pie. It was pie crust with melty, gooey, tasty chocolaty, chocolate pudding inside. It was a little bit messy but I loved it! There were chocolate chip and sugar cookies—they were soft and good. The ice cream cups were good too.
Every time I try something good, I tell Alice, the head chef, how tasty and yummy it was. She loves when I tell her that because she doesn’t always have time to hear all the compliments from the kids because she is always busy cooking in the kitchen.
The Painted Turtle is a fun place to go to. The food is good and everyone loves it. I feel very, very, lucky that I get to go.
