The World of Nick Adams

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I was very lucky to be able to go to a play called The World of Nick Adams in San Francisco. It was put on as a benefit for The Painted Turtle. I got there back stage early at 12:15pm to do rehearsals and the show was at 7:00. At the theatre, the camp counselors brought me to a fancy dining place. I tried the pasta. It was very good. It had a little spicy kick to it. I also drank some Sprite which helped the spice go away on my tongue. Backstage they had a burrito bar. I took some tortilla chips, a corn tortilla and some cheese. It was very delicious. I wrapped it up like little burrito. It was cheesy, corny and delicious. A lot of famous celebrities and actresses were there. At the end of the play they did, a lot of us Painted Turtle campers came out and sang Put A Little Love in Your Heart. I had a great time.

Leatherby’s

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

After closing night of Annie Jr., a lot of the cast went to Leatherby’s to celebrate. The restaurant was full of a lot of people. It was really big with blue and white decorations and paintings of ice cream on the walls. I ordered a grilled peanut butter sandwich, no jelly. My brother ordered grilled cheese. Both came with fries. My dad ordered a veggie burger and fries. My mom ordered a half egg salad sandwich and a half salad. My sandwich was really good. It was crunchy and a little sticky from the peanut butter. I will definitely order that again. The fries were medium thick and warm and crispy. I really liked them. My mom and dad think they are some of the best in town. My brother thought his grilled cheese was very cheesy and delicious. My mom and dad really liked their food too. For dessert I had a clown sundae with pumpkin ice cream. My brother had one with vanilla. My dad had scoop of raspberry sherbet and my mom had a small hot fudge sundae. The clown had 3 cookies, 3 cherries, a cone for the hat and whipped cream. It was very delicious. I love that whipped cream. Its real, fresh whipped cream. Leatherby’s is a great place to go because its fun to go there with your friends and family, their food is excellent and their dessert is also excellent! I would definitely go here again.

Willies

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Willies is on the corner of Fair Oaks and Arden. We went up to the counter and we ordered a cheese quesadilla (no chicken), french fries, my brother ordered a grilled cheese which they didn’t have on the menu but they made him one on a hamburger bun, and a veggie burger for my mom and dad and beignets for everyone to share. You get a cup and go and get your drinks from the soda machine. It kind of looked like a diner. The quesadilla was huge, cheesy and thick. I loved it! The fries were not too salty, they were great and there were a lot of them. Spencer said the grilled cheese was way too good! I sort of like it too. My mom and dad said the veggie burger was good but I didn’t try it. They said it was really big. The beignets are like French doughnuts that are squares or triangles. They were a little hard to chew but they were very powdered-sugary and I liked them. They weren’t as good as the ones in Downtown Disney but they were good. I loved the food and it looks like a diner which makes it kind of unique. I think it’s a great place to go.

Chili’s

Monday, October 6th, 2008

I arrived at Chili’s with my family. It is in the Howe ‘bout Arden shopping center. The service was very nice. For the kids’ menu, you can pick out an entrée, a side and a drink. I love the fun kids’ menu. My dad ordered some strawberry lemonade. It was sweet and delicious. My brother and I ordered the cheese pizza. I could taste the great sauce. It had very good cheese too. I loved it. For the side, I ordered corn on the cob. The juice was warm and sweet in a delicious way. Way more than delicious! My brother ordered fries on the side. I got to try some of them. They were salty, soft and warm. My mom and Dad shared a black bean burger. I didn’t try it but my mom and dad loved it. It came with broccoli. My mom ordered a house salad. It had good Thousand Island dressing and crunchy croutons. Yummy! For dessert, we all shared a huge chocolate molten cake. It was very chocolaty. It is vanilla ice cream and warm chocolate cake with chocolate and caramel sauce. The combination of the hot from the cake and the cold from the ice cream is delicious. I love that cake. My family calls it volcano cake. I love Chili’s. All of their food is great for kids. The main dishes, the sides, the drinks and especially the desserts.

Apple Hill

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Apple Hill is a place with a lot of apple stuff: apple pie, apple doughnuts, pretty much apple everything. When my family and friends arrived, we went to Abel’s Apple Acres first. We rode horses and went through the hay maze. I tried an apple doughnut and some apple juice. The apple doughnut was very good! It was warm and had some nice sugar on top. The apple part was the best. The apple juice was great, nice, cold, fresh and really appley. My mom tried the apple pumpkin pie and loved it. My dad had the crumb top apple pie and loved it too. My brother and our friends all loved the doughnuts. Then we went to Boa Vista Orchards and looked at crafts and bought some tiny pumpkins and I had a delicious apple. There are a lot more places in Apple Hill. The two that I went to were great. There are many more apple things to try. I can’t wait to go back. Apple Hill is a very great place for family, friends, everyone.
