Boudins

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

We walked up to the counter and ordered a grilled cheese and cheese pizza from the kid menu.  They come with a drink, a cookie and apple sauce.  We also ordered a crab cake sandwich, a croissant and a small loaf of sourdough bread.  Then we went to the drink area and got our drinks–orange soda and root beer.  The grilled cheese was very crunchy and it was made with really good sourdough bread and good cheese.  The cheese pizza had a crunchy crust and very good sauce.  My brother said it was excellent!  My mom’s crab cake sandwich had good seasoning and I loved it! The crab cake sandwich came with a mixed greens salad which had a really good, tasty balsamic vinaigrette.  Next time I go, I would just order the crab cake part of the crab cake sandwich–I loved the crab.  That was the best part but the bread was good too.  We ordered a croissant and it was very cool and fresh on the inside and soft and flaky on the outside. It was perfect!  We also had sourdough bread which was very chewyish-crunchyish on the outside and soft on the inside.  I loved the bread. We choose a chocolate chip cookie for the kids meal cookie which had many chocolate chips and was very chocolately, chewy and very delicious.  I really like my chocolate chip cookies very chocolately.  I think the chocolate is the best part of a cookie. Your opinion about a cookie may be different.  I definitely think people should go and try Boudin’s.  If you have never tried crab cake sandwiches before, they are very delicious.  Boudin’s is a great place to go with your family.

Nopalitos

I went to Nopalitos with Fox 40 News.  It looks very Southwestern and I like southwestern decorations.  Rose greeted us at the counter.  Rose and Dave have owned it and worked there for a long time.  I ordered pancakes.  My mom ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and corn that comes with breakfast potatoes and 2 tortillas. My brother also ordered pancakes.  The pancakes were warm and very fluffy with sweet syrup.  They were very big, like the size of the plate.  I love them!  I would definitely order them again!  They are pretty much some of the best pancakes I’ve ever tried.  We had some cold and fresh orange juice.  I tried some of my mom’s breakfast potatoes. They were warm and a little crispy.  I loved the potatoes.  I also tried some of my mom’s tortillas.  They tasted like corn tortillas and they were delicious.  For dessert my grandma joined us and we had some chocolately brownies and sour cream coffee cake which was very cinnamoney, gingery and walnutty.  I love Nopalitos!  It’s open Monday through Friday for breakfast and lunch.  It would really be worth it to try to fit in a visit there!

You can see video of me at Nopalitos and in the Fox 40 studio under the Videos tab.
