Our family visited Scott’s Seafood on The River for brunch. We sat outside and the first thing I noticed was the view. There were a lot of boats and the river was beautiful. I think it was really nice to sit by the river. I thought it was appropriate to have a seafood restaurant near the water. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. She checked on us a lot and made sure everything was okay. I ordered a root beer for a drink. It was smooth and creamy. It was very tasty and not too carbonated. It was served in a frosty glass, which is how I like to drink root beer so it stays cold but without ice to make it watery. I saw Crab Cakes Benedict on the menu so I asked if I could have just the crab cakes without the egg and everything else. They said that was possible they brought it served with potatoes and fruit with hollandaise sauce on the side. The crab cakes had a lightly crunchy breading, very soft crab, not too much crab, just the right amount. I really loved the crab cakes. They were wonderful. The potatoes were cut thin and they had little pieces of onion. They were very soft and had good seasoning. Mom and Dad also loved the potatoes. Spencer ordered pan cakes. They were very soft and fluffy and big and tasted like buttermilk. I loved them. Spencer also loved them. My dad ordered the Huevos Rancheros. It wasn’t my favorite but Dad loved it! He said it had a good crunchy tortilla. My mom ordered the Crab Cakes Benedict with potatoes. Mom said she loved it! I couldn’t decide what to order for dessert so I got the dessert platter which was a sampling of the first five items on the dessert menu. The Raspberry Jack was vanilla bean ice cream with some raspberry sauce. It had a very sweet raspberry flavor. I liked it. There also was a tiramisu. It was very light and had a good coffee flavor. I really loved it. We also had Port Lava Cake with a vanilla bean port reduction. It was very chocolaty and rich. The New York Cheesecake had raspberry coulis and vanilla anglaise. It was soft, rich and tasty. My mom really liked it. Last but not least, the vanilla crème brulee. I thought it was very custardy and it tasted a little caramel-y on the crispy top. I think this a place that everyone should go if they enjoy eating by the river. It has a wonderful view and the food is fantastic.
You can see video of me reviewing this restaurant in the Fox 40 studio under the Videos tab.

My family visited John’s Incredible Pizza in Roseville. It was huge! It has a lot of food bars and it has a really big area for children to play arcade games, ride small rides and get prizes with their tickets they win. It costs about $10.50 for adults and $7.50 for kids for dinner on a weekend, which you have to pay to get in. Then you can get fun cards for the games and rides starting at $14.99 each with 65 credits. The games take about 2-3 credit each and the rides 8-12 each. At the food bars, I got mac and cheese at the pasta station, which was very cheesy and it tasted wonderful. I also got cheesy rice. It wasn’t really my favorite but it tasted pretty good. I also tried the potato wedges and a baked potato. The baked potato was really warm and it tasted wonderful. There were different selections you could put in top of your baked potato like butter, sour cream or chives. The potato wedges were cut potatoes, cooked soft, not like french fries, but like big breakfast potatoes. They tasted pretty good. At the pizza station, they had a lot of different kinds of pizza! My brother and I got cheese pizza. I didn’t like it all that much but my brother loved it! There was also a soup station, a huge salad bar, a dessert bar and a drink station. My parents thought the salad bar was good and fresh and they liked the pastas. I had root beer at the drink station and at the salad bar I tried the breadsticks. They were really soft and warm and buttery and tasted great. For dessert, I tried the chocolate cake, cinnamon roll and these little tiny donuts that came hot off the donut machine. It was really fun to watch them get made and they were very delicious! The chocolate cake was very chocolatey. I sure do love my chocolate! The cinnamon rolls tasted great-soft and warm. After we played lot of games and went on fun rides like bumper cars and twister, we grabbed an ice cream cone on the way out. It was a very hot day so ice cream sounded good! For my overall assessment, John’s Incredible Pizza is a place that every kid should go. They have so many rides and fun games and lots of food for you to try!

At the Whole Earth festival, there is music, drumming circles, lots of booths with jewelry or handmade soaps or pottery for sale. Everything is made by hand and is very beautiful. There are a lot of people there, some in bare feet, some in tie-dye, and some just in shorts and T-shirts. There are a few different food areas. What’s unique about it is, you take a plate for example with your food for $1, then you return it and they give you a dollar back. So you aren’t wasting paper or Styrofoam plates. Its the same with utensils and cups. A good amount of the food there is vegetarian or vegan. One of the things I choose to try was the garlic fries! They were very garlicky with just the right crisp. They tend to stay warm for a very long time. We also tried a veggie-corn dog. It had a good crisp and I could taste the corn meal. It was warm and smelled really great and had a very great flavor. Later, we also ordered some pizza. It had very soft cheese and crust. The cheese had a very tasty flavor. My brother said it was 5 out of 5 stars. We did a little shopping and I made my own ring at one booth. My brother bought a fish shaped wooden flute. He’s sort of good at it. Later we got some sweets. I tried a frozen chocolate-dipped strawberry kabob. To me it was too frozen to eat but the chocolate was really good and the strawberries were very sweet. We also all shared a dark chocolate dipped ice cream bar. It was very soft and it had a great taste although it was pretty messy! At another booth, we were offered a sample of an iced peach lassie. It had peaches, ice and coconut milk in it. It though it was very sweet and creamy. I love things with coconut! My mom doesn’t really like coconut. The rest of us thought it tasted pretty good. Of course, I had to try the root beer! This root beer had a different way about it. It was made with wildflower honey, raw cane sugar, extract of malt, sassafras and sarsaparilla. I thought it was really creamy. The strange thing about it was no bubbles! It also had a slightly different flavor. It was not too cold but very tasty! Finally, we got an organic, vegan funnel cake. It was very crunchy and tasty and it had a lot of powdered sugar. Every time there is a funnel cake, we just have to try it! This funnel cake tasted just the same as non-vegan or non-organic ones we’ve tried. It was very delicious! If you love to try all kinds of different food in booths like at a fair, this would be the place for you. The food is just a little healthier here and more earth-friendly. The Whole Earth Festival happens at UC Davis in the quad, on Mother’s Day weekend every year.
